Welcome to July!
It's mid-winter and a wonderful time to bunker down and enjoy the comforts of home - a time for family, for rest, rejuvenation and contemplation in preparation for new growth in the spring. Previously, the passing of the shortest day has often left me a little betwixt & between - excited we're now heading towards summer, and reluctant to face the real winter weather. Well, I guess the confusion was an obvious hint...it's neither 'good' nor 'bad', it just is. Sometimes life is such that we require additional skills to get to a place of acceptance and peace, and to move forward with enthusiasm. This month we are bringing you some of these skills - we have a focus on breathing, and if you are in Hawkes Bay we invite you to join in the launch of the first of our book reading groups, learning and practising 'The Work' from Byron Katie's book 'Loving What Is'.

The Importance of Breath
Breathe consciously. Many people breathe shallowly, thus keeping the body tight, stagnant and working harder. When you breathe slowly, deeply and consciously you can feel your body, tune into your intuition, calm your mind, relax, and help purify the blood. Join Us at Our Book Club Launch
"Who would you be without your story?"
In an exciting collaboration with Carol Neilson - LifeEnergiser + Transformational Coach, we are launching the first of our Book Reading groups here in Napier, with "Loving What Is", the work of Byron Katie. Starting on the 27th July ... the reading group will be facilitated by Carol and will use 'The Work' as a gentle inquiry into life, the world and relationships. It is NOT a therapy group - more an opening to learning and practicing what we are reading with a facilitator who is familiar with 'The Work'. If you're like us sometimes it helps to have a little accountability to ensure we take the action suggested by the information! So, please book before 20 July to ensure a place in the group.

What's Shona been Reading?
I recently picked up the book “Traveling At the Speed of Love” that has been sitting on my shelf for a while and I was drawn to a particular chapter (3) entitled ~ Breathe: Your Ticket to Fly ~ which is also the title of the article Sonia Choquette wrote for our web page and the topic she discusses in this youtube of breathing tips. This message comes to me at a time when I have noticed myself holding my breath/unable to breathe/and recognising the shallow breath that is not serving me so well…Time to take action and follow Sonia’s basic tips for conscious breathing. I am sure you are aware that “breath” is the basis of and the energy for your life’s journey so time for me to take this on board and place more importance on learning to breathe effectively. If you are looking for some ideas we have loads of meditational/breath CD’s on our shopping pages and local meditation groups which you can find listed on our events pages.
I have observed that without adequate breath I am in survival mode….with breath, I am in spirit and in the flow. Today, no matter what, take your time, breathe, and notice the world around you. Send us your tips via our Facebook page – we’d love to hear from you.
