Less than one short month has passed since our last newsletter and it seems we have been continually reminded of the changes taking place in our world, community and personal lives. Faced with rain-destroyed homes, pastures and roads; tornados, and continuing quakes it is easy to feel fearful of the 'uncontrollable' events happening around us on a daily basis - and to lose sight of the simple things we can do to reduce stress and feel more at peace. What has Maree been Listening to?
I first discovered Peter Russell's work when I read Mystery of 2012: Predictions, Prophecies and Possibilities and since then I have stumbled across other material of Peter's that I like just as much.
What we read and those we meet constantly remind Shona & I of how significant a regular meditation practice is to our health & well-being.....if only life didnt get in the way!! When I add to that the resistance I feel when listening to meditation audios, (they never seem quite right....too fast, too slow, too long, too short...) my meditative experiences can feel like a lost cause. (No judgement of course - which is exactly why I need it!)
BUT....Eureka! I have now discovered the perfect audio for me: 2012 Mindshift: Meditations for Times of Accelerating Change . In this two CD set Peter Russell discusses the current changing, challenging times and the mind and consciousness. He also offers 5 simple to practice meditations for us to use: presence, befriending discomfort, inner wisdom, loving kindness, and clarifying purpose. The length of meditations range from only 11 minutes through to 18 so they're great for a quick fix any time during the day, and I like Peter's voice - not boring or bossy, but calm and comforting. This is a goody!
